Welcome Message

Thank you for visiting the web site of the College of Pharmacy at Washington State University. As Dean of the College, I am pleased to welcome you to this site that contains extensive information on our programs, our faculty and our students.

The College of Pharmacy at WSU has a long tradition of excellence in pharmacy and graduate education, and research. While we cherish this past, we are preparing our students for a future that will bring continuing change to the practice of pharmacy. In order to be ready for this inevitable change, part of our mission is to prepare our students for lifelong learning, and to be leaders in all areas of pharmaceutical care, particularly managing drug therapy and counseling patients on the proper use of medications. In essence, making sure our patients are as healthy as possible.

In 2007, we welcomed into our College the faculty, staff and students from the nutrition, dietetics and exercise physiology programs at WSU.  These are wellness programs based on the same sciences we study in pharmacy.  This marriage has increased our opportunities to collaborate in the classroom, the clinic and on research.

Among our many strengths is a large body of committed and engaged alumni and friends. These individuals share their life experiences with our students, as well provide the additional financial support necessary for us to reach for higher levels of excellence. They are, in many respects, our extended family and instill into our students the essence of Cougar Pride.

A key factor that distinguishes us from many of the other colleges of pharmacy is the high quality of instruction our students receive inside and outside the classroom. Our faculty and preceptors are a dedicated group of individuals  that we cherish, and continually work to maintain and enhance.

Admission to the WSU College of Pharmacy is highly competitive. The students admitted represent tomorrow's leaders in the pharmacy profession. I invite you to browse through our web site to learn more about what we have to offer. Once you do, I am confident that you will realize that our College is is populated by outstanding students and faculty that are moving the professions of pharmacy and dietetics forward to new heights.

Go Cougs!

Sincerely,

James P. Kehrer, Ph.D.
Dean
