Endowment Funds

Endowment funds are an investment in the future of the College. Annually, the College receives 4 percent of the value of each endowment and an additional 1 percent helps fund the activities of the WSU Foundation. Any income earned by the endowment fund above that is reinvested in the fund. Establishing an endowed fund creates a permanent legacy at the College.

Scholarships: A minimum donation of $25,000 creates a fund that supports annual scholarships to students within the College of Pharmacy. Donors have up to five years to build their support up to endowment level.

Graduate Fellowships: A minimum donation of $25,000 creates a fund that helps provide annual support for graduate students. These donations are matched by the state. Donors have up to five years to build their support up to endowment level.

Endowed Professorships: Those who give at the $250,000 level can establish a professorship at the College of Pharmacy. These positions support the research and service of a senior faculty member of the College. Professorships qualify for matching funds from the state. The College of Pharmacy currently has three endowed professorships: The Boeing Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Administration; the Dorothy Otto Kennedy Distinguished Professor of Pharmacy; and the J. Roberts and Marcia Fosberg Distinguished Professorship in Pharmacy.

Endowed Chairs: At the $1.5 million level, a donor can create an endowed chair. This chair is eligible for a match from state funds, as well as from the central university. Endowed chairs allow us to recruit nationally and internationally renowned experts in their field of study.

Endowed professorships and chairs allow the College to compete for, attract and retain top faculty.

Endowed Research Fund: Contributions of $5,000 or more to the departmental endowed research funds are welcome. Income from these funds are used to help junior faculty start research and senior faculty carry their research forward during intervals between grants. This support is essential to retain talented faculty members.
