Blum teaches PY1 and PY3 pharmacotherapy courses, focusing on medications in pregnancy and lactation. She is the instructor of record for the online elective: Diseases, Complications and Drug Therapy in Obstetrics. Additionally, she is a guest facilitator in the Advanced Pharmaceutical Care Lab.
Blum is also a preceptor for three very unique PY4 rotations. In the summer, she takes students to Camp STIX, a camp for children with Type I diabetes. During spring break, she takes students to Guatemala on a cleft lip and palette surgery team. Lastly, Blum precepts pharmacy students at her clinical site in high-risk pregnancy, lactation and labor and delivery at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital.
Research and Practice Site
Blum specializes in obstetrics. She serves as the clinical pharmacist for the Maternal Fetal Medicine Team at Providence Medical Group, as well as, the Obstetrical Hospitalists Team and the Birth Place at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. This is a new position created by Gerald Briggs. Research, in cost effectiveness of pharmacists in this setting, will be ongoing for the next two years.
