Additional Training
PGY-1 residency: Pharmacy practice residency at the University of New Mexico hospitals in Albuquerque. Newsome received a teaching certificate from the Health Sciences Center as part of this residency.

PGY-2 residency: Ambulatory care at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Teaching
Newsome teaches in Pharmacotherapy IV and is the instructor of record for this course. She precepts students for their APPE ambulatory care rotations and also serves as the student coordinator for all students at the Spokane VA.

Practice Site
Newsome’s practice site is at the Mann-Grandstaff Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She runs a metabolic clinic where she sees patients with diabetes and other cardiovascular risk factors. As a pharmacist provider, Newsome operates under a protocol which allows her to initiate, titrate and discontinue medications.

Research
Newsome's scholarly interests include increasing the quality of medical and pharmacy care for transgender and gender nonbinary patients.
