Research
Dr. Skaer's research interests focus on issues involving mental health, chronic pain, complementary and alternative medicine, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, and have been supported by $3.2 million in grants from foundations and the pharmaceutical industry. Additional Information
Skaer is a tenured professor of pharmacotherapy, tenured professor of health policy & administration, and licensed pharmacist in Washington, California, and South Carolina. Skaer served as the assistant dean for curriculum design and evaluation at the Washington State University College of Pharmacy from 1998 to 2003. She received her Bachelor of Pharmacy from Washington State University in 1985, completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited residency in hospital pharmacy at Richland Memorial Hospital in 1986, and received a Doctor of Pharmacy, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern California in 1990.
Skaer is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Health Care, 9th Edition (2010), Who’s Who in American Women, 28th Edition (2010) and Who’s Who in American Education, 11th Edition (2010). Skaer is the recipient of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research & Education Foundation 1995 Pharmacotherapy Research Award, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research & Education Foundation 1995 Pharmacy Practice Research Award, and the Washington State University College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award in 1992, 1995, and 1997.
Skaer is a member of the editorial board of Current Therapeutic Research.
