B.S. Nutrition & Exercise Physiology

Admissions Information

The bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at Spokane is a bachelor completion degree offering only upper-division junior/senior-level courses.

Before enrolling in the program, students are required to complete at least 60 semester credit hours of specific coursework at the freshman/sophomore level.

The BS NEP degree focuses on the effects of nutrition and exercise on human health. This unique curriculum integrates the areas of exercise physiology, human nutrition, biological sciences, and social and psychological sciences.

Students completing this degree will be eligible to take a national examination for credentialing as certified Clinical Exercise Specialists through the American College of Sports Medicine. OR, they may continue on to obtain a master's degree designed for those individuals whose career goal is to become a Registered Dietitian through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Students also may be interested in pursuing a Ph.D. or an M.S. in NEP.

New students are admitted once a year and begin the program in summer semester.

Admitted students may complete prerequisite coursework during summer semester while enrolled in NEP 320 (Strength Training and Conditioning). The full-time curriculum begins fall semester.

 

Admission requirements

Grade Point Average

A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of '3.0' (on a '4.0 scale) is required, minimum cumulative GPA of '3.0' in all prerequisite courses, and no lower than 'C' grade in any prerequisite course.

Prerequisite courses

Before enrolling in the BS Nutrition & Exercise Physiology bachelor’s degree completion program at WSU Spokane, students are required to complete at least 60 semester credit hours of specific coursework at the freshman/sophomore level at another higher education institution.

An overall GPA of 3.0 or greater is required, and no less than a grade of 'C' in all prerequisite courses.

Students must complete at least 72 credit hours in upper-division courses at WSU Spokane. The program is designed for full-time students and offers primarily daytime courses.
