Pharmacology/Toxicology Program

Graduate students in the pharmacology/toxicology program publish papers and make presentations on a variety of interdisciplinary laboratory research projects. Some of the most recent involve alcohol consumption and its effect on viral hepatitis, dioxin and its effect on the immune system, serotonin and stress and how they affect eating disorders. Many of the faculty in the pharmacology/toxicology program are doing research in the areas of cancer biology, immunology, general pharmacology and other related areas. For a more detailed look at the work underway, click here.

 

Geriatrics Team

A core group of faculty in the Department of Pharmacotherapy are collaborating with other WSU faculty and health care professionals in research involving the geriatric population. Read about the research team here.


Clinical Trials Research
Team

A core group of clinical researchers led by Carol H. Wysham, MD within the Department of Pharmacotherapy conduct clinical trials centered on the management of diabetes and its complications. The goals of the clinical research team are to conduct high-quality clinical research as a means to provide hands-on diabetes care to members of the greater Spokane community, and to improve the management and outcomes achieved for people with diabetes. Fellowships

This annual research program provides hands-on laboratory research experience for undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding scientific aptitude and an interest in a research career in the biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences.

Applications are closed for the summer of 2009. Check back in February 2010.
