Description: Dr. Setter's interests center on health problems found in older adults. This includes diabetes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. He has reviewed the impact of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on older adults and written for professional journals on prescribing safer NSAIDs. This includes examining drug related issues, neuropsychiatric disorders, and Type II diabetes in community-dwelling elders.

Special projects that he is involved with include providing and teaching pharmaceutical care in an ambulatory geriatric setting and he is active in a city-wide effort to decrease NSAID-related gastrointestinal disease in older adults.

Setter is a Clinical Pharmacy Consultant, Elder Services / Visiting Nurses Association of Spokane. He also is a member of the WSU Geriatrics Research Team.

Dr. Setter completed a post-graduate fellowship in geriatric pharmacy at Washington State University in 1997 and in 2000, he became one of only 10 Certified Geriatric Pharmacists in the state of Washington.
