I. Mission

The purpose of the WSUHSPA is to be a volunteer organization within Washington State University dedicated to addressing the needs and concerns of postdocs to improve their postdoctoral experience on the Spokane campus. The WSUHSPA serves as a platform for postdocs to seek professional resources and/or opportunities to further improve their career development and to explore leadership and mentorship roles. The WSUHSPA also provides a framework for the exchange of research ideas, networking, and social events, altogether fostering a sense of community among postdoctoral scholars.

II. Membership

All postdoctoral scholars on the WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane campus are eligible for membership. A postdoctoral scholar is defined as an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring scholarly, scientific and/or professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.

III. Meetings

Monthly meetings open to all members and prospective members to provide a forum for discussion of issues relevant to postdocs as well as networking and socialization. The WSUHSPA shall hold an Annual Meeting open to all members, prospective members, and interested parties, to further the purpose of the Association, provide a forum for open discussion of issues relevant to postdoctoral scholars, debate the policies and vision of the Association.
