Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences is now located in Spokane on the WSU Health Sciences campus. The 10-week SURF program offers its fellows a stipend while providing a hands-on research experience for undergraduate and professional students. How to Apply
Before you begin, it may be helpful to gather the following documents and information:
- Transcripts from all schools attended since high school, regardless of degree completion (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty members, or other individuals, familiar with your academic and/or professional performance.
- A personal statement about why you would like to be considered for a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Please ensure to address your career goals and objectives, reasons for wanting to engage in summer research, and how the SURF program will help you address your goals and interests.
- Optional: prior laboratory/field experience and course-based research experience (experience is not required).

2014 SURF program information
Summer fellows will receive a stipend of $2,800 (before taxes) for the entire ten weeks of the program. Fellows must pay for their own travel and lodging expenses.
